One of the most difficult things about getting into astronomy is having the information about each planet, star, or nebula available while you are star gazing. SkyScout not only put that information at your finger tips – it will automatically point you to where each one of those objects are in the night sky!

SkyScout is a camcorder-size digital planetarium that can locate and identify over over 6,000 stars, planets, constellations, and deep-sky objects.

SkyScout uses GPS to align itself to your current location. Simply put, Sky Scout immediately works out where you are on the Earth. It locates just about any object in the night sky for you, automatically and within 30 seconds. As you look into the SkyScout it will show you which direction you need to go, and indicate when you get to the object you want to see.

It will tell you what that object is. Want to find something you can’t see? No problem, just type in the name and Sky scout will find it for you! It even works in daylight! A special feature for those new to this amazing hobby is the ‘Introduction to Astronomy’: an inbuilt six-part audio lesson on the origin and the history of astronomy. Hear about all the famous early astronomers and marvel at what we’ve discovered since. With the USB port included you can even download new data online!

The SkyScout contains an LCD screen that is used to display information about each object you view, to select objects you want to view, and display all other information. The headphone jack allows you to hear information about each object you view. The audio is really nice because you can listen to it while you are looking at the object.

* Tonight’s Must-See List – When the SkyScout is turned on, it will tell the user the 10 coolest things to look at in the sky that night, using internal GPS to automatically customize it to where the user is located – anywhere on earth!  * Constellation Lessons – If the user is looking at a star that’s part of a constellation, the Sky Scout will inform the user, show a picture of the constellation, and help locate the other stars in the constellation.
